Setting up a payment terminal
Payment terminals allow you to take card payments. Tebi uses Android-enabled terminals that also run the Tebi App so that you can create orders, process payments and print receipts, all in one device.
Terminal admin PIN
The PIN codes will be available after completing the Tebi Payment process.
To access certain features of your payment terminal, you need a PIN code. There are two passcodes, for:
- Admin & Settings
- Transactions
You can find the PIN codes in the Tebi Back Office > Terminals > Overview.
You can change the passcodes by clicking Show passcodes, changing the code and clicking Save passcodes.
Set up terminal
To get started with your payment terminal:
- Charge the terminal using the cable and power plug supplied. The terminal should be connected to power while you are setting it up.
- Turn the terminal on using the power button on the left hand side for S1F2 terminals, and the right hand side for AMS1 and S1E2L terminals.
- When the terminal has started up, choose Quick Setup > Adyen.
- Select the language to be used on the terminal. This is typically the language of your staff and customers. Please note it can take up to three hours before the changes are applied.
- The terminal requires an internet connection. We recommend connecting the terminal to 4G. However, if you choose to use a Wi-Fi connection, select a secure Wi-Fi network that is not used by guests.
- At this stage the terminal will likely search for updates and install them. This process can take up to an hour to complete.
- When these updates are complete, open the Settings app.
- Select Device info > Open Software version. This will check for an update and can take a few seconds.
- If an update is available, select Install now.
- The update will download and the terminal will restart. This can take a few minutes to complete.
Tipping options
There are various tipping options, to adjust these on your terminals go to the Tebi Back Office > Terminals > Overview > Tipping on terminals.
- Choose if you want to enable tipping upon payment.
- Allow custom tip amount: allows the customer to choose an amount to tip.
- Select up to three tipping options, that can be entered as percentages (e.g. 5%, 10%, 15%) or fixed amounts.
- After adjusting the tipping options, wait 15 minutes and then restart the terminals for the changes to take effect.
Ask for the tip when a payment is above a certain amount by goingto:
- Settings > preferences > Ask for tip on payment terminal > Enable > Set the ‘Sale amount threshold’
