How to add and use Profit Centers

Profit centers allow a single Tebi account to handle multiple configurations; cafes, bars or restaurants in a single location. It currently works best in situations where there are several, distinct sales areas within a single location. Think of a hotel with a cocktail bar, a restaurant and a pool bar.

Read this article to learn what is and isn’t shared between Profit Centers.

Add Profit Centers in the Back Office

  • Go to the Tebi Back Office > Settings > Profit centers
    • Note: There is a Profit Center named Default. You can’t delete this one, but you can edit the name.
  • To add the next profit center, click on New profit center
  • Enter the Name
  • Select a color. The color can be used to distinguish profit centers in reports and throughout the Tebi App.
  • You can toggle on: Copy from default if you want to copy the floorplan from the Default Profit Center. If you want to copy from Default, make sure the default profit center is filled out correctly. From that moment forward they are separated and don’t update together.

Select a Profit Center in the App

The Profit Centers will be visible in the Tebi App

  • Go to Settings
  • The selected Profit Center will be visible as the first item in the Settings menu
  • Select the Profit Center for a device or set to default

Set Profit Center Sales mode

Assign products to a Prep Station

All Profit Centers share the same product list. For each Profit Center, products can be assigned to a Prep station.

In the Tebi App:

  • Go to Products
  • Click on a product and scroll down to Preparation
    • Leave on the toggle Products are prepped the same across profit centers if products are prepared in one place, regardless of where they are ordered (e.g. a hotel has multiple bars and restaurants but only one kitchen).
    • Turn off the toggle Products are prepped the same across profit centers if products are prepared in different stations depending on where they are ordered, and select the prep station where the product is prepared when ordered at this Prep Station

In the Tebi Back Office:

  • Go to Products
  • Click on a product
  • Scroll down to Preparation
  • Turn off the Products are prepped the same across profit centers, to assign a product to a profit center
  • Select the Prep station for that product per Profit Center

Set up the Sales screen

  • The Sales Screen will be set up specifically for the selected Profit Center.

Best Practices

Use Profit Centers when you have:

  • Multiple distinct sales areas (restaurant + bar, different floors, separate concepts)
  • Different operational workflows per area
  • Need for separate reporting and analytics
  • Varying prep station assignments based on location

Consider alternatives if you need:

  • Simple area tracking (use Floor Plan areas instead)
  • Shared sales between areas (Profit Centers keep sales separate)
  • Complex inventory tracking per location (use Inventory Locations feature)
